Sermon Title: “Greater and Greater”

May 5, 2019

When the disciples went to the tomb, they went expecting to find Jesus’ body. They weren’t looking for life even though Jesus told them otherwise. How often do we do the same – carry out our lives knowing where to find life, but we remain among the dead? Our HOPE is in Jesus who defeated death and desires to live within us!

Title: “Greater and Greater”

The question we ask ourselves: Is God still a God of victory when the seemingly worst happens, or did the grave win?

The question we ask God: Are you the one, or should we expect another?

Sometimes we re-negotiate our beliefs in order to do what we want.

You will experience victory, you may realize death before that.

We have more doubt because of the man who was beheaded than the man who was beheaded.

Right now, some of our faith’s won’t make it through the fire.

As you reflect on the message this week, use some of these questions to consider how God might be working within and around you.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Can you think of a time in your life when you realized a promise of God? Peace in the midst of chaos; hope when you were in need of salvation; patience in a time of tribulation?

  • Have you ever had a moment that felt like the grave had won?

  • What was your response in that moment – did you try to make sense of the situation, question God, turn back to the grave?

  • How could the idea that the valleys of our life are a chance to be formed change the way you experience those valley moments?
