Sermon Title: “Rent Crutches”
November 17, 2019
Don’t make permanent what was only meant to be temporary.
We don’t hold onto things that weren’t supposed to be there because we expect to be healed.
What was necessary in the present will often become a hindrance in the future.
We need to want more than the miracle, we need to want the new life as much as the moment.
Instead of allowing God to take us to a new level, we make a case for why we should stay here.
We ask God to work, but our kitchen is cluttered.
Questions for Reflection:
Can you identify something (a behavior, a relationship, a habit, a possession, a goal, an attitude) that was necessary at one time, but that later became a hindrance?
What are you covering in your life?
What are you collecting that confirms the identity you have claimed?
What in your life might need to be pruned, thrown off, or cleared out to make room for something better?
