Sermon Title: “The Error on Easter”

April 22, 2019

When the disciples went to the tomb, they went expecting to find Jesus’ body. They weren’t looking for life even though Jesus told them otherwise. How often do we do the same – carry out our lives knowing where to find life, but we remain among the dead? Our HOPE is in Jesus who defeated death and desires to live within us!

Title: “The Error on Easter”

Life can be an adventure without being an exhausting search.

We look to people & things to provide what they never promised.

The simplest, and most sensible, move you can make is to quit looking for life among things that are dead.

We get stuck living pre-resurrection lives in a post-resurrection world.

Before you knew Jesus rose from the grave it made sense to look for life among things that are dead, because there was no where else to turn.

The error on the 1st Easter is that they didn’t realize that life had changed for them, don’t let that be the same error that you make this Easter.

You will find meaning in the “last place you’ll ever have to look”.

As you reflect on the message this week, use some of these questions to consider how God might be working within and around you.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Have you ever had an experience like the women at the tomb on Easter morning, where everything had changed, but you weren’t aware of it?

  • Can you think of a time when you went looking for meaning, security, joy, or purpose where it was never promised?

  • What grave can you leave behind this week?
