Brad Thompson and family

We are thrilled to welcome Brad Thompson to the Be Hope Family!

Brad, along with his wife, Janelle, and two boys, Carter and Miles, will join us in moving the mission forward in a BOLD way. As Lead Pastor, Brad brings his love of learning about leadership along with his passion to equip and empower others in discovering their identity and purpose. Brad is an Ohio native and avid Ohio State University Buckeye fan. He holds degrees from Mount Vernon Nazarene University (BA) and Northwestern Nazarene University (MA) with a focus in Missional Leadership. Brad also served in the military for 10 years. The Thompson family is ready to jump into this incredible Be Hope family on the weekend of June 11 & 12, 2022.

Current Step: Step 9

Current Step: Step 9

STEP 1

PRAYER

Be assured that God has a plan for Be Hope and its next Lead Pastor. God is already at work preparing the way. The Leadership Team and staff has already begun praying for the Holy Spirit’s leading. We would ask that you join us in praying for the Leadership Team, staff, those who call Be Hope their home church, and for the future Lead Pastor.

STEP 2

DISCUSS TRANSITION PLAN WITH BE HOPE STAFF

Be Hope staff met with members of the Leadership Team to discuss transition plans. The Leadership Team decided that the preaching responsibilities will be filled by existing staff and not bring in an interim pastor. A speaking schedule is established for the next 3 months using our amazing staff.

STEP 3

DISCUSS TRANSITION PLAN WITH LEADERSHIP TEAM

The Leadership Team met on February 13, 2022, to discuss creating a pastoral search team and approve the continuance of Be Hope staff during the transition. The pastoral search team consists of Leadership Team, Kiesha Plaskett, Robby Brown, and JC Slone.

STEP 4

DEVELOP PASTORAL PROFILE

The Leadership Team will meet to determine a pastoral profile in February. This will be a list of qualities they are looking for in our new Lead Pastor.

STEP 5

IDENTIFY & INTERVIEW POTENTIAL

After identifying potential candidates, the Search Team will vet the potential candidates and arrange for initial interviews. An onsite interview with the Search Team and a meet & greet with staff is likely prior to a formal recommendation of the candidate to the congregation. Confidentiality during this process is essential for the sake of all candidates and the places where they are currently serving.

STEP 6

LEADERSHIP TEAM NOMINATION

The Leadership Team, with the approval of the District Superintendent, will vote to recommend the preferred pastoral candidate to the membership for a congregational vote. Once a nomination is made, the congregation will be informed.

STEP 7

CONGREGATIONAL VOTE | APRIL 9/10

The nomination of the candidate will be announced at Be Hope for at least 2 weekends before a membership vote takes place. All members, as identified through the database as adults over the age of 15 who have completed Hope Unleashed and contacted the church office to become members, will be invited to participate in the vote. A favorable vote of two-thirds is required. The Leadership Team may encourage all attenders to participate but only members’ votes will be counted in the final tally.

STEP 8

RESPONSE OF THE CANDIDATE

The Search Team will contact the candidate with the results of the vote and a response is expected within 15 days. If the candidate does not accept the call, the process returns to Step 5.

STEP 9

ARRIVAL OF NEW LEAD PASTOR

Be Hope will have the opportunity to celebrate and welcome its new Lead Pastor and family.
