Extending HOPE beyond bars.

Hope Beyond Bars is an extension of Be Hope Church with the mission of championing the faith of the incarcerated by leading them in a relationship with Jesus. We partner with local prison systems to plant Be Hope Church campuses inside prisons and build community within prison walls. We share God’s love with the staff and inmates to engage them in worship, messages, discipleship, and more to build a faith foundation during and after incarceration.

Our main need is for teams of people to go and host services. We’d love to have five teams of ten volunteers each who could rotate through a 5-week schedule, each team attending a service at the prison once every 5 weeks. We’ll drive over and back with a church vehicle, and our teams will become small groups, sharing what we experienced with each other each week. At the prison, we’ll greet, make connections, participate in worship, and build relationships with our new church family.

We will likely have other opportunities too. If you’re nervous about going into a prison, but want to be involved, we can use people to help us organize, to keep our website up to date, and all sorts of other administrative tasks. We will find a way for you to participate!

Currently we are serving in the following locations, expanding to both men’s and women’s facilities.

Greene County Jail
77 E Market St.
Xenia, OH 45385

Ohio Reformatory for Women
1479 Collins Ave.

What happens at Hope Beyond Bars would not be possible without the support of people just like you. We’ve found that when we share our time, expertise, and ability we discover a deeper sense of belonging. The connections formed through serving together reveal more of who God is and how God is working in our world. If you are interested in serving with Hope Beyond Bars, there’s a place for you on our Hope Team.
