Sermon Title: “Opportunity Gap”
December 1, 2019
Low expectations aren’t the key to happiness, low expectations are simply the key to not being disappointed.
The gap between expectation and reality in our lives is misery.
The gap between expectation and reality in our faith is opportunity.
Our confidence isn’t in what we prefer, but what God has promised.
Instead of trusting God’s promises, we attempt to coerce him.
When we say God let us down we are calling God a liar, even though he never said he would do it.
Our level of worship is connected to our awareness of what God has done for us.
We are able to see the misery of others when we have gone through it ourselves.
Within someone else’s misery, is opportunity.
Questions for Reflection:
Can you think of a time when you had low expectations in life? What about a time when you had low expectations of God?
Is there an area of your life in which trusting God is difficult? In this area, are you clinging to your preferences or God’s promises?
Are you pursuing your desires, or what God desires for you?
Where is the opportunity gap in your life?
