Title: “SideStep”

One of the greatest obstacles to our goals is what people say about us.

We live in the age of offense

Easily offended is a massive barrier in coming to faith because Jesus is offensive.

Matthew 15, Galatians 5:11, Luke 14:26, Matthew 10:37

Every time I am offended I am revealing what I’m looking to for meaning, purpose, and fulfillment.

Being offended is a choice.

I’m not offended because I’m not looking to it for meaning.

Freedom is:
1. The words of others don’t distract us.
2. The words of Jesus enable us to focus on him.

As you reflect on the message this week, use some of these questions to consider how God might be working within and around you.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Are you creating unnecessary friction in your life and calling?

  • Are there hurdles in your life that were never meant for you to jump?

  • Are you more focused on where God is leading you in the future, or where you have been in the past?

  • How does the atmosphere of offense reveal where you are turning for your value?

  • Is blame a hurdle that is keeping you from moving forward?

  • What might you need to sidestep this week?
