Sermon Title: “Adjust the Pull”
January 5, 2020
If you never adjust the pull, the pull will adjust you.
We must know the difference between what’s good and what’s from God.
This passage is not just about the resurrection of Lazarus, it’s also about the growth of Mary.
To understand why we quit growing we need to see what caused us to grow in the first place.
We are always being pulled forward, and being pulled back.
We naturally adjust to the tension of the pull, so if we want to grow we have to adjust the tension of the pull.
We can’t handle changing the tension because we’ve made our focus arriving when it should’ve been on growing.
God meets you where you are, but calls you to where he is.
Mary’s worship is recorded because she doesn’t stay in the house.
Questions for Reflection:
Can you remember a time when you were pulled back to what was?
Are there things in your life right now that may be pulling you back to who you were, where you were, or what you did?
Has your focus been on growing or on arriving?
What are you moving towards?
How does your vision need to expand so that you can continue to move towards God and what God has for you?
