Guilt gives you stopping points. (Proverbs 4:23)

Guilt has the power to change you. (Psalm 103:12, 51:7-12)

As you reflect on the message this week, use some of these questions to consider how God might be working within and around you.

Questions for Individuals/Connect Groups:

  • This week we are talking about guilt. Specifically, we are looking at David’s story in the Bible. King David was a character in which we can hear from his heart during a time of great trouble. He had made a huge mess of things with an affair he had and devised a plan to cover it up. Instead he was actually exposed to his best friend, Nathan. If you want to read the full story of David’s affair, read it here: David’s Guilt

After hearing his story, David thought he could get away with his sin. How was his power as king being used to cover up his sin? How did his control in the situation make him believe it was over? What did the control actually do in his life?

  • Think about how people still try to hide their guilt today. Can you think of a person in your life who has lived in denial of what their actions have done to others? Without using names, discuss how they have shown the same actions of wanting to cover it up. How were they unsuccessful in covering up their guilt?

  • This series we have talked about changing the way we deal with our thoughts, annoyance, fear, disappointment, and guilt. Which one of these sermons stood out to you the most? Why?
