Sermon Title: “Hope is a Strategy”
August 2, 2020
The Lord’s Prayer | Matthew 5:9-13
Psalm 23
And because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future. And life is worth a living just because He lives.
The Cross: The cross was an instrument of death so it was not a symbol that people loved in the Roman Empire. It wasn’t until the 4th Century until the cross became a symbol for Christianity, because by this time everyone who had witness a crucifixion had passed away. The original symbol for Christianity was the Ichthus (The fish).
“Hope is not a strategy.” Vince Lombardi
Hope is trusting that losses are victories in the hands of God.
Can God trust you with what feels like a loss in the moment, knowing he is doing something greater in eternity?
If the meal is from God, I don’t care where I’m eating.
Faith begins with I put my trust in God, but then it moves to God you can trust me.
Hope is trusting that losses are victories in the hands of God.
God, you will for me, is better for me, than my will for me.
It wasn’t God’s desire to take Jesus to the cross, but to take him through the cross.
LIFE IS NOT MEANT TO BE LIVED ALONE. YOU WERE CREATED TO EXPERIENCE LIFE WITH OTHER PEOPLE.
