2 Timothy 3:1-5, Psalm 34:8

Faith is a gift, but unbelief can be a gift to when our faith is in the wrong things.

No matter what your thoughts and preconceptions about God, he is better still.

We all see how our past views of God were incorrect but still assume our present views of God are completely accurate.

Scripture says that we are made in the image of God, but the far more common thing is we make God in our own image.

When the God you hoped in doesn’t look like the real the best thing God can do is to dismantle your inaccurate thoughts.

There has to be a dismantling in order for there to be a rebuilding.

They’re walking away from where they thought Jesus was, but walking towards where Jesus is.

When our false thoughts of God fall apart is the moment when our real faith can begin.

Sometimes God uses humanity to restore our faith in him.

The goodness of God is not a matter of observation but experience.

There are no steps of faith, only leaps.

As you reflect on the message this week, use some of these questions to consider how God might be working within and around you.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Sometimes we create God in our own image rather than understanding we were made in the image of God. Where have you found yourself doing this in your own faith?

  • Where can deconstructing and rebuilding actually make your faith stronger? How does this make our faith more accurate and passionate?

  • Who in your life has shaped your faith journey? Where have you had people who changed how you saw God?
