Sermon Title: “Vision Weekend 2020”
November 8, 2020
Matthew 28:19
Mark 2:15-17
The opposite of shallow isn’t deep, the opposite of shallow is personal. – Stuart Hall
What God has done for you, and what God is doing through you cannot be divorced from each other.
A selfish faith isn’t faith at all so the invite to Peter is watch what I will do through you.
There is no call within scripture to be a disciple, only to make disciples.
Discipleship is not about knowing, or doing, but becoming.
Religion without evangelism always devolves into legalism.
Questions for Reflection:
What are some of the high moments you have felt we have had as a church? Where have you seen God working the most clearly here at Be Hope?
We describe discipleship as “the progressive losing of my own selfish desires, to be replaced by the character and purposes of Christ.” Where does this deviate from how you have heard discipleship described before?
When looking at how one lives their life, what is the difference between someone who knows about God vs. someone who knows God? Where do you see yourself?
Where do you see yourself in the vision of this next year? What part of this upcoming vision excited you the most?
