Title: You Get to Name It

Matthew 16:17-18, Genesis 28:19, 2 Timothy 1:7, Romans 8:28-29

It’s not the event that shapes us, it’s how we view the event that shapes us.

There is a difference between a description: what it is; and a definition: what it means.

When you change how you define it you change how it impacts you.

You’re only stuck in your past if your view of the past is stuck.

As you reflect on the message this week, use some of these questions to consider how God might be working within and around you.

Questions for Reflection:

  • What makes the difference between ”it is what it is” and “I decide what it is”? What difference does it make within you? How does it change your circumstances?

  • Where in your life have you sat in something letting it define you instead of you naming that season? Or where have you decided you were going to define that situation instead of letting it define you?

  • What have you learned over the difficult seasons about yourself, God, and your relationships with other people?
