Day three
Hearing from God | Reading the bible
The Bible shapes our steps, directs our choices, and draws us closer to Jesus. You don’t have to understand everything to begin—you just need to start.
One of the most practical ways is by giving God the First Five: the first five minutes of your day set aside to read the Bible.
If you don’t own a Bible, pick one up for free the next time you’re at church. Not sure where to start? Begin with the book of “Mark” in the New Testament—the story of Jesus’ life.
As you read, ask simple questions:
•What’s happening in this passage?
•What does it show me about Jesus—or about me?
•What might God be saying to me?
Then, turn those thoughts into a short prayer. Reading with others can also help you grow. Join a group, or ask a friend to read along with you.
God’s Word is alive (Hebrews 4:12). The more you give Him your First Five, the more you’ll see His Word through the Bible shaping your thoughts, your habits, and your relationships.
Scripture Focus:
So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
- Isaiah 55:11
Pause + Pray:
God, thank You for giving me Your Word.
Help me to give You my First Five each day and to hear Your voice as I read.
Shape my heart and guide my steps through Your truth. Amen.
